Default Is This Badge Fake

I picked this up on another forum and once I got it in hand it looks strange. What’s left of black pain shows a copper tint. I’m not to familiar with this so some help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you gentlemen. I had a gut feeling about it but just wasn’t sure. The copper must be a base to the black paint which I have never seen or at least noticed.🍺
