Hello and welcome to the forum.

I'm far from expert but have an interest and wish to learn more on this so will venture the opinion that it is not an authentic 1813 EKII. Neither the frame nor core appear to match those authentic ones I've seen in photographs here on WAF.

Now the experts will provide some valuable education for us both.

Regards,
Stu
PS: By the way, you might want to post it in the Imperial section too.

Well, keep in mind I could well be incorrect. Give it some time. Others will confirm or correct and then we will both be the wiser.

As to finding an 1813, you will likely have more luck here than on Ebay once you get to know some of the collectors.

Regards,
Stu

I'm not an expert either, but as stated by Stu, this one is way too neat to be a 1813 EK. Keep in mind they had many difficulties manufacturing these back then, as the techniques were still rudimentary, and the crosses were quite crude.

eBay is perhaps not the best place to buy expensive, high-end items like an 1813 EK, but you can still find good stuff there IMO.

Cheers,

Nicolas

The Imperial section is where you can learn about the iron crosses from Imperial times.

Thanks all of your opinion here and luckily didn’t buy it!

What do u think of this 1813 ek? It is a stepped core 1813 Prinzen ek. It was sold by a reputable UK auction house DNW yesterday.

From which parts of the ek would u conclude that it is a fake? Since they are a big auction house I would like to listen to your opinions first
