The Bene Merenti full-size piece is authentic and the Zeige piece looks promising. The Prinzen is a fake.

Thanks Streptile. Just 1 Q see if you guys know, the Bene Merenti full-size mentions that it is a word in its description Eisernes Kreuz 1813, 2. Klasse -Zentenarfertigung. In German "Zentenarfertigung" translated as "centennial", does it mean that it could possibly be a 1813 ek2 made in 1913s? Not sure if my interpretation is right.

My feel is that even from the same auction house, you have fake and authentic items...it is necessary to be very cautious when bidding through them. And auction house does not really appear to be trustworthy as what i had previously thought.

Yes, that's an odd description of the piece. It's a late award-type (1815-1820s). Maybe you can get it for a good price because of the incorrect description.

Bene Merenti is a reputable auction house and the men behind it are experts in German Imperial orders, but of course no one can know everything so everyone must do their own research, as you are doing now.

If you want a nice original Prinzen you can buy one directly from Andreas Thies right here. You have to create an account though.

That’s a nice suggestion Trevor. Thank you.

What’s the price range for a condition 2 EK2 for 1813 nowadays? Also is the trend for Older Ek like 1870 and 1813 rising compared with few years ago?

For a standard original three-piece (AKA five-part) award-type 1813 EK2, I think the price these days is between €2000 and €2750.

I mean a type like this one:

Non-standard items like Prinzens are always harder to price but I think that €1000 to €1750 is a good estimate.
