Japanese collection auction
I was able to view this impressive collection of Japanese antiques yesterday and thought you guys might like to see some photos. 
I bid on a few swords but unfortunately they went for more than I was willing to pay.

IMO, the auction house did a really poor job at photographing the collection hence the low prices for many of the Japanese items. For example, they didn't bother to take a single photo of any of the actual blades so that probably put off a lot bidders who could not get to the venue and have a look for themselves.

Wow, looks like some really nice swords, tosugu, etc! I agree, a lot of times auction houses do not know how to photograph swords. Understandable with how many items at times, but still sucks unless you're there and can also find flaws, etc. But sometimes, you could get lucky and get a nice blade at a decent price, even with commission, due to poor photos and lack of knowledge by those there. The field though does tend to become stagmant in these times, as said though.
I got lucky with one and got a Nanbokucho Yamato Sen'juin wakizashi that was o-suriage. Had a fukure, but the craftsmanship was beautiful and they didn't even photograph or mention the duel hi (grooves) on the other side, so I was happy, haha.
