Default Commemorative cloth variants

Here is a large embroidered commemorative badge. Use unknown ,pretty though !
Reverse has annoyingly unreadable text written on ,1917 is all I can see . I have another in black ,red and white stitch

Is it possible that these were used as the centerpiece on a small Flieger-verein pennant? I have seen photos of 1920s veterans carrying such a flag. In any case they are quite interesting and attractive.
