An addition to the flock in the form of a J1 'CEJ'.

I noticed that this example has a shaped eagle, which curves nicely over the wreath. I am not sure if this is usual on early J1s or if this is simply a one off. It appears to have been done over some sort of former and looks very nice in my opinion. The eagle on the 'full maker's mark; J1 shown earlier is flat.

Best wishes
Tim O.

Georgous addition Tim. Is the wreath where the eagle attached is flat trim under the wings?

Hi Seb

Yes, the wings are really tight to the wreath with no gap at all.

Best wishes

Is there a reference thread that explains the differences and identifying features of J1, 2, and 3 eagles?

Hi Tim
It seems to me that this early type is so. Here, for comparison, my badge with the same feature, with eagle which curves nicely over the wreath.
