Default Bargain Narvik and Kreta

Hello,
Saw this last week in an antique shop in Florida. I just had to share it with you guys as I know you will appreciate the bargain price for two really nice items, including a never before seen side tab Kriegsmarine Narvik! If you're interested in them, I'll gladly let you know the store's location. It's not too far from Disney, so you can use the money you'll make from these to help fund your trip to the Magical Kingdom.

Please don't take this seriously, I know they're not real! Nothing in the store was.
Dale

I'm glad you guys like these items. This is why I hardly ever waste time going to antique stores anymore. They did have a few original items, but I didn't feel like paying $75 for a 1935 Saar tinnie and other such ridiculously overpriced common items.

Nevim presne, muj smysl pro humor je podivny!

Though I intended this posting as a joke, I suppose it could also serve as a warning to those collecting out there to always seek knowledge here and in other places before buying items, and especially to post it here before buying if possible. Through the years I've seen many a repro or fantasy item placed on the forum by those who spent a lot of money and didn't know better. This should help show them just how much of a jungle it is out there.

Default Hi Dale

…...Thanks for some good humor. I totally agree that it is a jungle out there, and I concur with your statement about common items being totally overpriced. One Summer weekend in 1973 I was with my wife going through a Antique mall in Yountville, CA, after a very pleasant lunch, browsing the stalls. I came across a WW1 EKII that had a $90 price tag. The owner happened to be present so I asked him why the ridiculously high price? He assured me that it was an extremely rare award. Needless to say we had a very 'spirited' disagreement over his claim of 'rare'; when I endeavored to point out to him how 'common' WWI EKII's were. Caused quite the row. In my opinion he was just a predator vendor trying to take advantage of any client's ignorance. His behavior doesn't, in all fairness, represent all antique vendors, but he is, or was, not unique in his methods.
