Can someone tell me more info about this cigarette case? What is Gautag?
Is this a common case?

Thanx in advance

I am by no means anywhere near as well versed in the collecting field as the other folks on this forum, however I'd ilke to try and help you with your query.
What it looks like you have in those photos is a European cigarette case with a Gautag (to my limited understanding refers to a "Province Day" which is a NSDAP rally/festival celebrating the culture and annexation of one of the 42 [If I remember correctly] "territories" of the Reich.) commemoration tinnie imposed onto it, either by bonding or welding.
It could have been a drummed up souvenir for US guys towards the end of the war, but there are plenty of other stories I'm sure could be more accurate.
At any rate, it's still a piece of history and I think you've got a pretty cool find on your hands. Might not make you rich, but is still a great addition to your militaria.
Again, I'm not even remotely close to being an expert so make sure to heed any other comments, should they be posted.
I hope this helps a little.

Old cigarette case with added tinney to make it something it NEVER WAS. Typical European Flea market junk.....They would never use a "Tinney" as an add on to a cigarette case.....just makes NO SENSE!

NOT ORIGINAL.....just made to sell to the "unknowing"!!!!!!

Save your money .....if it's not too late!

I actually know a guy here in the UK who spends his time at car boots sales ect looking for military badges to fix to period cigarette cases or matchbox holders. He has made hundreds of these items over the years.
