Default SS M-33 dagger 941/37 (Eickhorn)

Picked this nice M-33 up recently on trade. Has lacquered grip which I understand could have been period. Rest is very good+ condition. Vertical hanger is 38 dated
and marked.

drBill,
Sorry to say but it looks like you got a fake on your trade.

These blades have been around for awhile and mated in all kinds of configurations.
Here's one on a old thread with a chained scabbard.
http://wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/s...=941%2F37%2FSS

I would say the hanger is also fake.

However, wait to see other opinions.
I would reverse the trade unless you swapped for fakes, then, depending, it's OK.

-Serge

Bad, this motto has the infamous fluted "M", as Serge mentions, these have been around for ages. First the Spanish made them with triangular points over the "i"s, then later by the Czechs over original re-ground blades, heres a few examples, they sometimes paired them up with Himmlers and Rohms...

Best, Gary

The CZ fakes are much better, encountered these at a show many years ago. Luckily bad enough to easily ID, but way better than the Spanish copies. They offered them as original "refurbed", in various conditions from excellent to well worn...

I reckon about 85%-$90 of SS daggers posted for opinions are fakes or parts daggers which makes me more happy about my slightly knackered one. Rob
