I dont known about the Porteepee but the scabbard looks like a S84/98 instead of KS98, but maybe only not clear visible on that pictures. There are rivets in the frog? its not typical for a dress frog. b.r.Andy

Thanks Andy.
In fact the beauty I mean was the SS portepee.

No interest in the bayonet.

Can I have opinion about the portepee?

Thanks a lot.

AndyB, do you have information on knots of the quality being faked? Thanks, Dale

All SS items were faked, already since 1950, possible this piece is ok, anyway a UV light test is for me a quick confirmation. here in middle Europe are SS items in real pieces to fakes in quantity 1:9 .
When i see a piece which KS98 with a replacement grips probably, note the cracked grip, mostly in a wrong S84/98 scabbard and frog with a SS porteepee with some spures on Eichel and no worieng spures on strap, i would be personally carefully.b.r.Andy

Thanks Andy, it is a scary thing and always good to be on the side of caution. The fakes are getting better and better. I'm afraid one of these days nobody will be able to tell. One thing that seems odd to me is that all of this type of knot with the runes that I have seen have been in mint or near mint condition. I assume they were unissued stock. Here is a photo of a recent repro that has fixed the touching runes of last set of fakes.
