Default Opinion of SS decal

I've been told this is a fake decal, is this correct?

Ben , it is always best that we can see the whole helmet and know the maker and lot number.

DH is correct. These ground dug / relic things bring in a whole new view on the helmet and ďremainsĒ of the decal... all of the helmet and angles are necessary for a conclusive evaluation... Johnno.

My thoughts right or wrong. No one else has replied. Graphically I like the decal. Looks like a good 2nd pattern ET. But what I canít help but see appears to be heat treatment with the darkened and bubbled bits. I like the liner a lot but feel it maybe a replacement. Letís see what others say. I feel that others have not replied because of similar reservations. Everyone will chime in now someone has put their head on the chopping block. Johnno.

My thoughts exactly big John, a hard one to pick. A really good close up may shed some more light on it. Bill

IMO it is Fake. Right rune is different than accepted originals. Strange wear. Rest of helmet is nice.

Your own opinion is only good enough if you have the experience and knowledge to judge if whatís in front of you. Itís not a visor cap, and even then the wrong call can be made. Johnno.

Based on what i read from the Experts in this Thread thats the best Advice i can possible give him. Before i post something where i am not sure, i better post nothing until i am sure, so much to wrong calls. And thats why he should get the Helmet to inspect him, take Photos and make up his mind about it. So he will learn what he needs to know, and not have to Post it here and get some Opinions what in fact say.....we have no clue.

Why are the runes two different widths? agree with other comments regarding the liner.
A tricky one here.

Knowing the maker of the helmet for sure is a first step for SS helmet, the lot number icing on the cake in some cases and of course with all of this a good decal close-up.
My feelings so far. if an ET helmet it may be a good runic shield.
The liner I feel could have been put in later when comparing the shell wear to the leather of the liner.

Perhaps a bad picture but the right hand rune looks to be lower than the left hand rune.

Again perhaps the pic but the left hand rune is an attempted ET rune and the right hand rune is an attempted pocher or EF.

Damage to the decal is always unknown, but does not appear to be combat damage.
