I always thought that this type of cross EK1-1914 signed "800" is referred to as Sedlatzek / Mayer ... I'm right?

Regards
Jarek

It was made by Mayer. I don't know of any connection to Sedlatzek.

I am not 100% sure, but I saw probably similar crosses in Stefan's base and they were described as Sedlatzek ...

Jarek,
Sedlatzek did not make his own crosses. He sold other people's crosses.
In our Sedlatzek reference thread you will see several examples of "Sedlatzek"
marked crosses from different makers. Please take a look here ----

I have my doubts about the Mayer/Sedlatzek theorie. Never saw a marked Mayer with a so called Sedlatzek core. There are some similarities but the crown and the numbers are different. Also the specific disc with screw nut. Often seen on different badges, Gallipoli star, Hesse War Honour badge and Iron Crosses and often with the Sedlatzek signature.

There is IMO not solid prove that Sedlatzek did not made or let make his own crosses. Also like to know when Mayer started to make Iron crosses first class 1914?

And hé this is just my own opinion......

I know that Sedlatzek (such is the general opinion) did not produce the EK crosses itself, but why Stefan connected Sedlatzek with Mayer's crosses? I think it's not unreasonably ...

For example:
In discussion = http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=507244, there is Trevor's statement, which, however, associates Mayer with Sedlatzek ...

Regards
Jarek

"Very nice Tan. I guess the maker of that TWM is BH Mayer. This hardware is known on other BH Mayer EK1s that were also supplied to Sedlatzek and marked the exact same way (see post 11). If you remove the small nut and check the other side, there might be a mark there (but probably not). The nut on the typical BH Mayer EK1 in post 11 is marked L/18, which you can barely see.

Now in my collection, many thanks to Hanhart. A beautifully made cross.
