Default Unattributed HJ Dagger

Fellow Collectors,

I am attaching an image of an odd ball HJ that I have - it has been in my possession for about 10 years, and was part of a small collection of HJ knives that I bought. The quesrtion is: What type of HJ Knife is it ?

I have heard various theories (i.e. guesses ! - All with good intentions), but nothing in the way of original source material to identify the piece.

The most appealing theory suggested that this was Leader's Fahrtenmesser for HJ sponsored groups in foreign countries. On the other hand, there were some serious suggestions that the piece is a complete fantasy item.

I am open minded about it in either direction - is there any one who can put a positive identification to the piece? All comments welcome.

Just checked my records and found an HJ with the same grip emblem sold by Tom Wittmann, labeled as a Czech Youth knife. That knife was marked RZM 7/49 1939, also with a motto. No idea what the ricasso proof mark on this one is.

According to David Littlejohn this is a Slovakian HJ emblem.

Gentlemen,

I am grateful to Saar (in Sweden), Billy G, and Mac, for their contributions. I have since obtained a photo from the David Littlejohn book showing the page with the same style badge (as a lapel pin) and stating that it is for German Youth in Slovakia. So this seems to be about the closest I am going to get to source information for identification - unless someone else comes up with an original period document.

I will endeavour to get this image uploaded on to this thread.

Thanks to everyone for all their help.
