Sadly we are all in the same trouble, numbers today say that the virus is spreading all around, not just here.
Thousands of new cases in the US, Spain, Germany, France... We were just the first ones in the West.
It seems that since yesterday the new cases here in Italy have begun to decrease, although very slowly. It's soon to be happy, but we can have a little of hope

Daniele and I have been talking on a regular basis. However, emailed him yesterday and have not heard back, very concerned.

And yes, prayers and best wishes to you all.

We go into a 3 week lockdown starting Thursday midnight no one to leave their homes for 21 days. To our Italian friends and the rest of the world good luck and I hope we find a vaccine soon.

Italian health system was a real pearl as a professional preparation for doctors and nurses but after years and years of budget cuts in favor of something that I will avoid mentioning here, now it is collapsing.
If from one side it is true that this virus is absolutely with a very strong virulent power we need to underline too that the 95% of deceased are poor elderly people, people that normally no one would have been so delicate to consider in normal times.
The main problem is that we didn’t follow the great Chinese example to ARMOR mainly Wuhan and all the Hubei province leaving the rest of China to continue economic activities although so with appropriate protections …here, our government ,closed all from North to South giving almost the opportunity to put on the knees an economical situation which was already not the best. The main problem are all the Northern italian Hospitals that are full of people with real problems…no structures…no Physicians… no Nurses….the people are working there are few in numbers and really really tired and they were a real EXAMPLE not only for the rest of Italian hospital workers due they gave the opportunity to prepare us (always with what we have……) to an eventual wave of infections…but they were almost like in an ambush when all exploded and they are still in this situation. How to fight with a slingshot against a tank…..
The main whole problem it’s that probably we really don’t know how many people are infected since December or January….too many strange flu at the end of 2019 and very beginning of 2020 thing that NEVER happened in so strong way.
Another wrong thing in Italy it’s that you cannot count the hospitalized / dead ratio but you would have, as government, had to swab all citizens and only in this case would you have had a REAL situation between infected and dead.
Please see the statistics…..look at the Germany….29.000 cases and only 118 deaths….in Italy 64.000 cases and more than 6.000 deaths….it is not normal…..something is wrong.
I’m beginning my shift now at the hospital, I have to leave but I would like to THANK you all the friend around the world who were and are interested to us and all the medical and paramedical people…police, firefighters not only in Italy (mainly in North due actually heavily involved) but in the whole world doing something that, believe me, sometimes goes beyond any reasonable possibility.
