Default Waffen SS units in italy, 1945

Hi,

Some family of mine asked me to do a bit of research on a German Scharführer, who was killed 11th January 1945 around Ravenna/Senio River in Italy.
The Scharführer was killed by a Dane in the Royal Canadian Army, attached as sergent to the 7th Anti-Tank Regiment, 111. Battery.

The name of the Scharführer is Hans Kaufmann.

Now, at first I tried Volksbund - they don't seem to have him registered..
After not finding him on Volksbund, I tried to find out what Waffen SS units he could have been attached to. So far, I can't find any other W-SS units in Italy 1945 than 16. SS - Panzer-Grenadier Division "Reichsführer SS". Is it correctly assumed that only the 16th SS Pz.Gr.Div. fought in Italy around 1945??

If any of you can supply me with additional information, I'd be very grateful!

There were plenty of men in SS uniforms in Italy but RF-SS was the largest single unit and it was in the right area in jan.45 so you're most likely correct

It was most certainly the 16 Reichsfûhrer SS. Look at this link from the Canadian Army.

Thanks guys! Much appreciated!

Any suggestions to why he isn't listed on Volksbund? Grave not found yet?
