Default Saxe-Coburg-Gotha M15 enlisted Pickelhaube

Hello,

Last November I acquired a depot issue marked "B.A. I.V." helmet for Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, the 153rd Regiment, stationed in Altenburg. I'll post a couple photos of it. The Saxe-Coburg-Gotha kokarde was acquired last springtime.

This helmet has only the "B.A. I.V." depot issue marking. There is no "153" regiment marking but it does have a hard to read penciled name on the underside of the back visor, most likely the former soldier who wore it. I need to try to re-shoot and post here the depot marking and the penciled name, as my original photos don't show it properly.

Sadly someone greased the leather liner up in the past with some type of so-called "leather preservative", and the liner is not in what I would call good shape any more. It's deteriorating due to that old leather preservative treatment.

Best Regards,

Alan
