Such tab-back bars will always have room for doubt, but I like this one.

These are 'modular' same as the ribbon bars with the tabs. It is less easy to determine the date of manufacture and more recent modifications … other than obvious new scratches … than the more traditional tailor-made construction with fabric backing.

Maybe a good idea to invest in this great book to improve your understanding ? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Parade-Meda...s=books&sr=1-1

Wonderful for the info & examples, but 2 things in particular that stand out in Tom's book. His section on construction and materials is very well researched, he also goes deeper into the different "styles" of construction. And his non-ego approach. He's quite humble about this stuff and says that he is far from the 'know it all' in this hobby.

Best,

James

For sure; a bit of instinct required for these. And for ribbon bars it's very "iffy". I tend to shy away from those now. If both metal tabs and ribbons are new/old stock; who can say when it was assembled?

Always that grey area w/ these.

Best,

James

Few of my thoughts - ribbons of those medals look in nearly same colour shade what is always a good sign. Ribbon folding is also preciously executed.
