Default Rg34 K98 Cleaning Kit

I have several K98 cleaning kits, all are marked and / or dated, but one I just recently picked up has the WaA. This is the first I have seen on a kit (44 dated), is this uncommon? Thanks

Well I have seen kit's without WaA but I always suspect those to be postwar? Anyway all mine have WaA stamps also the tool and oiler is WaA stamped and maker /code markes as well. Very seldom without WaA IMHO.

Well mine are all dated as well as manufactured marked, except for one example, so they are obviously wartime, as the dates are prior to 1945.I know the boxes are made psotwar look almost identical. I also looked at the ones for sale on several reputable websites that were without WaA markings listed as wartime production. I do believe the manufacturing codes exist only on the wartime examples, form what I have seen.

Usualy I don't pay too much attention to these (nice) items, but I also believe all parts (at least the early - mid war types) were WaA marked.

Could you post some pictures ?

MfG,
Bart

Matt,

I always was in the believe that the ones found without WAa-markings , and with only a makerstamp (or even totally unmarked), were pre-war indeed but made for export...Offcourse some of these could as well have been issued to german troops during the 30's and WAa stamped at that point.

I'm not aware of post-war made cans, I think they were re-painted and maybe even re-stamped (Israel)...

If you have both a date/maker + WAambt stamp, you can't go wrong offcourse

IMO, it would be uncommon not to find a WAa-marking on a wartime kit.

Cheers

Jan

Hi Jan, I will have to dig mine out to check, but the can is a "G Appel" marked example, but the contents are all waffenampt stamped if my memory is correct. It come out of an old collection that was made up of Vet acquired stuff obtained in the late 1950's/early '60's. It also came with the larger version, which I believe is the MG34 cleaning kit.

Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade,

Is the can itself marked with a WAa?

I have in my collection a G. Appel as well, dated 1937, but no WAa, IMO produced for export...

Cheers

Jan

That's fine Ade!

Does anyone has a pre-war dated G. Appel produced can, with a WAambt?

Cheers

Jan

Here is the K98 kit. As you can see it lacks the spoon.

Cheers, Ade.
