David I am sure you will find a matching set with all those singles.

Gees and I thought they were rare, looks like there is a blue sale on! Here is my restored set, not matching but I would take these in any condition. Blue seems to be the theme for Kreta

Seriously though, due the presence of several FJ divisions in France from mid-'43 to the conclusion of the Normandy campaign, and all the training they conducted before the battles, I would bet there are more around than we are seeing. What is surprising to me is that I haven't seen any in the US from veterans. I have found 4 single splinter bags in my area, but my single blue one came from Austria.

Speaking of splinter bags, there are several complete untouched pairs in collections in my area and I was lucky to have scored George P's pair, which even have a name tag sewn in them.

Shaun, that blue restored set is very nice! Have you seen photos of splinter bags worn in Kreta?

Willi I havent seen any splinter bags in Kreta photos. Only blue. I will definitely keep a look out.

John 1941 dated is my Holy Grail Means as much to me as my 41 dated front lace jump boots.

The strap was added in such a professional manner, it is hard for me to know when it was done.

We see some of this black/ red tape peeking out in the first one posted, but here is another.
