A real CZ27 holster with a nice waffenamt. The metal eagle is a political eagle - would have been put on by the GI as it would not have been put on by the German as he would get in trouble for messing with Govt. property. is there a date anywhere?

When you say original, do you believe the insignia is original to the holster as the seller states? or do you think it's post war added, as Robert stated above.

Thanks for the comments. Any others please?

Thanks,
Matt

My 2 cents- I generally take Robertís position on insignia found applied to German holsters, all done by GIs for the reason he gave. If Iíve see one Iíve seen a hundred and maybe twice that number.
On this example however Iím not so sure. The type of eagle, where it is mounted and the leather buffer all lead me to think that this is a possible German addition. The holster is WaA marked so originally military but may have found its way into some kind of political or SA formation wartime and been so embellished
It looks very good

I still have to see a legit German wartime applied insignia to a leather holster.
All that I have seen are embellishments done by the GI who "liberated" it from its previous owner.

The eagle and the holster just don't go together, and as mentioned, how many GI embellished holsters have you seen over the years. Neatly done, but that doesn't authenticate it.

100% an added piece. It was never issued with it.

If you had it in your hands, I think you would change your opinion.
100% original, not postwar added not GI added.

This holster would not have been issued with the metal eagle. Every one of these metal eagles that I have seen on WWII holsters were added by the GI or post war owner.

The only metal political eagle on a holster would be the political leader eagle placed on the political leader holster which was attached to the over the shoulder strap rig. The straps on these rigs were leather or brocade. The holster was leather or ersatz (pressed paper).

The holster is original but greatly over priced.
