Sorry, but in my opinion it is a fake:

- liner leather
- liner stitching
- Inside rim of helmet and serial number stamping on rim

Either the guy didn't get what he thinks his fake is worth, or the buyer bailed out. Nonetheless, the helmet is being offered again.

The description says:
die Lackierung sowie die Schatten des Nationalwappens und des Adlers sind nicht zeitgenössisch.
Paint and decal traces are not period.

While this thread about Ebay helmets, I will say that ALL COMPONENTS of the helmet are repro, artificially aged to fool collectors.

Some more photos of the helmet coming up for auction soon. Also, here's the description,

Early vented spanner bolts (4), being good and tight. Retains service worn leather liner with all leatherwork present, showing good honest service use, being ink stamped sized 56 and maker marked for Baumester (ink stamps worn to maker). Aluminium band frame, with dark grey padding material all present. Leather chinstrap assembly complete, with early friction style buckle maker stamped to crown. Steel shell maker stamped ET68 (Eisen & Hüttenwerke A.G) and 745 to rear skirt. Very good desirable camouflage helmet.
