Default NVA "Fahnrich"- like Warrant Officers?

Could someone give me a quick rundown on the East German Army Fahnrich ranks? I have always been under the impression that they were sort of like US Warrant Officer ranks- i.e. usually specialists/technical experts who ranked somewhere between NCOs and Officers- were Fahnrich ranks commissioned?

PASSAUER8884,

Basically, you are correct. Rather than do a lot of typing I've posted a url to a site that explains how the term was used in the NVA.

Regards,

Gordon

Thanks Gordon- very helpful

I have a 1973 dated dark collar jacket with the 2-star shoulderboards and two stars on the shoulder patch- and it all makes total sense now
