That tripod is not for an MG but for a search light, if not mistaken. Have a look for tripods at the optic forum. Oh, th FL+number indicates it was part of Luftwaffe equipment.

Have to agree with Carles not a tripod for MG.

I was watching this on eBay.de & thought the description was off.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F352345448437

No reason for the spigot to be raised up a meter + for an MG application.

I have pictures somewhere of the searchlight tripod.

A nice rig but again not for MG.

I was going to take a punt on it but passed. I have 2 Gestell 31 in transit & a Gestell 40 in customs.

Good job on that one. A keeper for sure.

Hi Glen,

Nice dunkelgelb late war periscope you have, do not see many of those to the pound.

I don't recognise the device on the light alloy tripod......whats that one for?

Regards

Tim

Tim,

It’s part of a device called a FU30a it was used to help triangulate a radio set & to help get its position accurately on a map.

Lol that only becomes a problem if the pig starts wearing clothes.

Those optics of yours Glen, simply awesome. I have picked up the odd one myself, usually tube optics, simply because they are so interesting and finely made.
