I think such a long cable would not be needed in a panzer. Also the mikrophone is not vehicle type, not a laryngophone that would eliminate the noise from engines and etc. maybe artillery, indeed?

Default Artillerie units

LS:

Hello Andi......

I got somewhere a picture of a German Marine Coastal Art. Unit with a heavy gun at the Eismeerfront/Murmanskfront.The gunner is wearing this type of mic/headphone. Will look it up and make a scan. I believe its in Konrad Knabe's book "Die Schweigende Front" subtitled "Dietls Kampf im hohen Norden 1940- 1944.......

For sure a Artillerie piece........i realy think Marine Art.

Regards

Eric

Just found and attached the image....It's indeed in the book "Die schweigende Front"...page 108. For sure a Marine Art. Unit......take a look at the crossed anchors on the shoulderboard of the guy in the front.........for the mic/headphone .....the guy o the left uses them.........rather harsh enviroment.....

Yes this type of headset is most commonly seen with artillery both aboard ship and with coast artillery. Nice find!

Cheers
Gary
