Default Afrika Corps Medal Value (silver version)

I have a near mint Afrika Corps medal (DAK) that I bought from another collector about 2 years ago with a couple of other medals. It is a silver color, no signs of being bronze at one point. After some research I found that there was silver variation that was awarded to officers. I tried to find the value but cannot find another one. If anyone knows the approx. value of it, it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Philip

Philip,

there was no difference between officers getting a silvery pot metal one and the joes getting a bronze one. The Bronze ones were the early production, the silvery ones were a mid run and the really crappy ones were the pot metal last run of them. I literally have every variation of the medal, like 9 or 10 variations. I don't have a camera that takes decent micro shots and im not at home so I can't post better pics of the ones I have. Matt

I too read that there were two variations and picked up a bronze and a silver from HH.

Here is my example of the silver grade, Not "crappy" in the slightest:

There are several variations in the maker. There is the early bronze, the nice silver and then the crappy pot metal ones. Each has a variation or two of the maker being stamped in, raised or a combination of both. The silver ones are really hit or miss, some are killer like yours and then there are others that just didn't hold up well. The pot metal ones are usually just base metal with no wash. Matt

Hi Matt, do you have an example of the pot metal ones?
