Default Unit marked 6x30 Busch Dienstglas

Gents,

this one I bought because it has unit marks.
Serial #158235, maker Busch (without "Rathenow").

As for the marks my theory is I.S. for Infanterieschule and later K.S.D. for
Kriegsschule Dresden.
What do you think, convincing?

Cheers,
taube

Markings looks old enough.

J.S. might be InfanterieSchule, K.S. Also likely, could be KriegsSchule. Still, I would check out the Schutzpolizei marking regulation as well. I always say so, when I see markings that ends with an S. They have been published in articles in Deutsche waffen Journal many years ago. I don´t know if they are available online anywhere, but the magazine exist on DVD´s

But if this is a fake, anything can be.

Thanks very much, Mike.

That's good hint with Schutzpolizei.
Will check my gun books etc.

Can any conclusions be drawn from the serial?
Maybe the year of production?

I strongly doubt the marks are faked.
The sloppy photos don't quite do it justice.

Best,
taube.

Well. I have checked the web for german police markings, and they are there, abundantly.

I think your original idea is more likely. I had forgotten than Schupo markings starts with an S, not ends with one.

Dr. Seeger has done a tremendous job on Zeiss binoculars.

But we lack similar information on other makers. Like on Busch, Voightländer, and Goerz.

I have been told that there are collectors, who collect german navy property numbers on binoculars from open sources. I hope they will, one day, make this available to the world.
( and the week after that, someone publish a facsimile of the original storage files from the german navy. That is how the world is. )
There are plenty of unanswered questions out there for anyone, who likes to investigate.

No details on what text has been removed above the 6x30 M marking ?? And I wonder what the M means.
It could be metric. The general design is post 1908. When did Germany adopt the metric system?( I checked: 1872. Sounds weird. Then why was Wehrmacht 6x30 binoculars inch-designs well into the late thirties???)
(The K98k rifle was an inch design. And it was kept as an inch design through WWII to maintain interchangeability of the parts)

Thanks again, Mike!

With a strong magnifying glass, I can clearly make out a "Dienstglas" removed.
It is hard to picture but I will try with a non-cellphone camera asap.
The IS to KSD theory is not too convincing from the pics provided so far.
I greatly appreciate your activity into the matter, Mike.
Dresden was THE garrison in those days so why not from there?
Unfotunately, I got no more history info on the binos.
I asked for advice from Frontalschaden who is an expert for 3rd Reich ID tags and related abbreveations but he is uncertain as for my interpretation.

Will give a better pictorial insight soon.
