Default NPEA Student uniform regulations

Hi all

before I get the HJ reference works which I have recently ordered, I had a few questions about NPEA student uniform regulations.

Member tmca5 posted a very nice NPEA Ilfeld school uniform on the forum on this thread:

http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=NPEA+tunic

The tunics are marked "HJ-Dienstrock" and the dark blue trousers marked "Diensthose". Are both tunic and trousers regular HJ clothing (with NPEA insignia) , or are they specific in design to the NPEA ?

I've seen the leaders caps from Bob C. here on the forum. Which cap was worn by the Students themselves ? A HJ cap (which one) or also a specific cap with NPEA insignia ?

Next question are the belt buckles. Did Students wear normal HJ belt buckles or only the NPEA belt buckles ?

Did the students wore the NPEA dress when at home or just in the schools ?

I've read somewhere that also the uniform (and dagger) was property of the school, hence some items are named. Where these then private purchased items ?

If the shoulder straps are embossed with a number, what does this mean ?

Are the shoulder straps on the tunic above (brown and school Ilfeld), the first pattern from 1937 ? Angola writes that Ilfeld had black straps.

Many thanks for your help, it's proven difficult to even find more than a handful Students photos...

Here are some photos of NPEA straps from my collection. Brown is the earlier pattern introduced in 1937. Post 1938 the straps were black with white lettering and piping. Very early NPEA straps were plain straps in differing colors depending upon the Schule location, they look simliar to Imperial Cadet straps. As for being embossed with a number, that is something I've not seen before on NPEA straps. Also DJ members wore the Sigrune in black with a white background. Colored Kordels were used on the post 1938 pattern straps to denote certain positions as well, like Jungmanngruppenfuhrer.

Another version of a post 1938 NPEA strap, unusual due to the embroidered instead of metal pip, and an example of the Sigrune worn by the D.J. members who were attedees of NPEA Schule, the same Sigrune as worn by Oberbann 6. Dealers sometimes tout these as "NPEA" to get maximum value out of them but they are identical to the Oberban 6 Sigrune.

Hi Gefolgschaft

many thanks for the info ! You have a great collection.

With the number "1" , I was referring to the shoulder strap button (sorry I missed writing button in my earlier post) - as on the tunic

Thanks !

The number on the button is reflective of the Gefolgschaft, a unit approximately the size of a company, of an HJ Bann. For example the red Allgemiene HJ strap is representative of Gefogschaft 1 of Bann 201 Moabit, Ost, Berlin. The Marine HJ strap is representative of Gefolgschaft 5 of Bann 624 Marienbad, Ost, Sudetenland. The flags or Gefolgschaftfahne would have the a canton panel with the numbers shown like this:

1/201
5/624
