Interesting sight to see the Varyag finally arrived at Dalian shipyard on March 2002.
In the next several years, the residents at the those highrise buildings will have an wonderful view of the refurbished process of the carrier.

Setting up the springs which support the arresting cable. Arresting wire cables and its pulley system can be seen too.

Difficult to imagine Varyag looks like this before at Ukraine shipyard as compared to her sister carrier Admiral Kuznetsov.

Admiral Kuznetsov should be classified as Carrier cruiser.
SS-N-19 Shipwreck missiles are hidden below the ramp deck. SS-N-19 can be armed with 50Kt nuclear warhead or 750 Kg high yield explosive warhead.
When launched against enemy ships or carriers, SS-N-19 will be launched as a group of 4. They can travel up to Mach 2.5. When closing to the target at low altitude, 1 of the 4 missiles will travel upward and then dive down to hit the target. Very difficult to catch and very lethal.
