Strange german docs?
I have been offered these German manuscripts dated 1939 and 1941 respectively. I have no idea what they are or if they are of any historical significance. Can any one please provide some information on these. The first one has 488 pages. Many thanx. Jacques

Both documents originated with the Foreign Office. The first one is titled: "Background Paper on the War" and was published in 1939 by the National Printing Office. The second is titled: "Paper on the Conflict with Yugoslavia and Greece" and was published in 1941. They are possibly internal reports capturing the international and international political situation with Poland and with Greece and Yugoslavia as they existed prior to the German invasions of each nation, from the point of view of the Foreign Ministry. This is just surmised from the titles of the documents, of course, but it would be interesting to know who wrote each one. Hope this helps.

A pleasure, Jacques. is there a way for you to look and see whether either of these documents is attributed to an individual or are they general office internal reports? I surmise that these documents are not now in your possession but I would be interested to know who wrote either/both of them.

Hi!
I had posted a Greek translation of such a document some time ago. It looks like they did circulate translated to different languages, justifying the policy of the Reich to other countries, axis or neutral.
It is ironic that my Greek edition, dated 1940, was trying to justify the invasions of Norway, Holland, Belgium and Luxemburg to the Greek public. One year later, further editions were trying to justify the invasion of Greece to other countries...
Here's the link to my thread:

Best regards,
Giorgos
