Original 10x50 blc marked bino - top. Phony binos - bottom.

Compare ocular lens (and eye cup) configuration of original and phony sets. Not even similar.

Notice blc marking on lower set looks nothing like top set blc marking.

The bridge screw on the phony set is the early war style. The bridge screw on later war blc binos is completely different (upper set).

Original 10x50 blc marked bino - top. Phony binos - bottom.

Note distinctive profile of rim on phony set metal ring. No rim on original blc metal ring.

Profile of original eye guards and phony eye guards. Not even similar.

Lacquer used on original blc binos much finer in texture than that used on the phony set.

Original blc set top, phony set bottom.

Notice the rounded profile of the metal ring on original blc set compared with the very square profile of the phony set. The metal ring screws in much deep than the blc metal ring.

No coating apparent on original, but phony set as a strange light blue coating.

Two screws can be seen on original blc set only one screw seen on phony set from a similar angle of view.

WWII 7x50 bmk (Srb & Stys) marked bino - top.

Phony 10x50 blc set - bottom.

Both sets have early war style bridge screws top and bottom.

Notice also the distinctive ring on bottom of the retaining ring.

Default Phoney Dienstglas

Just addressing Michael Downey's question as to the source of the phoney Dienstglas.
My theory is that they are based on post war 2 Japanese binoculars .The base being Japanese 7x50 military spec with coated optics. The phoney examples appear to have a few additional parts to add an air of respectability :
(i) eg. the distictive WW2 era bmk objective covers (square bases), and
(ii) the ocular adjustment rings appear to be German pattern too .The WW2 Japanese ocular adjustment rings were usually a cross hatched pattern.

I attach a link to a current Ebay offering for a set of St Moritz - Made in Occupied Japan .

Ebay number 390421780722 or check this link:
