Unknown insignia

I am not sure if this is the right Forum for this one, but since it has a propellor on it, someone should know. It appears to be early, as it is a tad crude, but I believe it to be real. Civilian flying club? I don't know. It is a rather large patch. I put a pencil in with it to give an idea as to size.
Anybody got a clue?

Deutscher Luftsport Verband = paramilitary flying/glider school. Don't know what its use was intended. Perhaps applied to a pennant??
