Default Seefarht

I have two Seefarht badges, Deschler & Franke. Can anyone tell me how rare these makers are for these badges. Thanks, Jim

Hi-

I used to think these type were rare as a type when I picked up my
Hoffstaetter/Bonn , 21 years ago.

They were all over the local militaria show two weeks ago.

Jim,

The man to ask would be Robert P. who's extensively collected these tinnies. In my opinion, he's knowledgeable about these and would be the best to go to. One of Robert's posts is here: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...light=Seefahrt and his full collection: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...light=Seefahrt

And just to let you spelt Seefahrt wrongly which may not show up on the search engine. With due respect, the correct name is "Seefahrt ist not".

There was an extensive article about these Seefahrt ist Not-badges in the US-magazin "Military Advisor" from Bender Publishing from January-April 1997 with many photographs of the various manufacturers and detailed information. The article was written by me and my friend Mathieu de Wolf.

Jim - Robert and I both collect these by maker and pin fastening. We put together a "database" with makers and fastenings

http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...light=seefahrt

Thanks to the fine article by Wilhelm and Mathieu I started to put together my little collection that now includes 46 variations by maker and fastening. I would say the toughest ones to find are by Wilhem Kolwitz, Walter Demmer, E.K. Haass (believe that's the spelling) and Gustav Brehmer.

Franke is not especially tough to find and of course Deschler is always a good one to have since they are a well known maker. I will say that the pin crimping on your Deschler is one I am not familiar with.

Having said that, not too many people are crazy enough to collect tinnies by maker etc. so the prices would likely be the same regardless of maker. I doubt the average collector of tinnies (especially such a common one) could care less about the maker as long as they get a nice example.

Curt thank you for your answer that was what I was looking for. I had already seen the link that you and Robert put together. Jim
