Lynn D. "Buck" Compton Dies at age 90
I don't know if this is the right place to post this but according to Yahoo news "Lynn D. "Buck" Compton, a veteran whose World War II exploits were depicted in the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers," has died, his family said."
He dies on Saturday Feb 25th in Washington state at the age of 90. He was an amazing man and will be missed.

Interesting his name was orginally Lynne, reminds me of John Wayne
where his name was originally marion. Must be something about
names for boys in the early 1900-20's that they gave their sons
these names.

Hi,
Very sad to here about this, have only seen him portrayed in "Band Of Brothers" but it appeared that he was a brave and gallant gentleman.
Awful to think that another veteran has passed away, how long will it be before they are all gone?
Sure he will rest in peace - as all WW2 veterans deserve.
John.

Buck
I am reading his book now. "Call of Duty" . In regards to his name Lynn which is also my middle name.
Buck was his nickname He himself chose because of the femininity of Lynn,.
which is also my middle name so I know how he felt.
Buck was named Lynn because his maternal grandfather was from Lynn. Mass.
He is a very interesting personality.
May he RIP.
A real American hero.
As were all the men from Easy company,
The Band of Brothers.

great guy
I was lucky enough to have dinner with Buck here in DC on a couple occasions a few years ago on his visits to DC--a great soft-spoken guy! He played in the Rose Bowl for UCLA before the war and after, prosecuted Sirhan Sirhan and was appointed to the judicial bench by Ronald Reagan...neat guy and a real hero!
