Default Hybrid Tropical Flying Jacket

K.Anderson/Oakleave has this one for sale.
Even though its not explained in the dealer description, it clearly is a bit of a hybrid...not a regular channel jacket!

This "flight jacket" appears to have started life as a Kriegsmarine Tropical tunic, and significantly altered.
Entire front panels have been replaced as there are no signs of removed chest pockets, its been shortened
but the clues of its KM origins still clearly visible:

- tunic measurement stamps below RBNr
- KM style under armpit ventilation holes
- French cuffs (not the norm on a real FL Luftwaffe flight jacket
- Tunic backpanel assembly with center seam still visible
- KM style partial shoulder area lining still intact!

Interesting conversion, but when was it done?
Full description here:

117SO1 - Luftwaffe JG27 tropical flight jacket named to Oblt. Egon Rall and mesh flight helmet marked with JG27.

RBNr info (appropriate for a tunic)...
So entirely rebuilt as a makeshift flight jacket

Converted whatever jacket with added markings IMO.
Zipper pulls and O2 straps are made of fabric ???
A bad job like this would never get a RB nummer ..

Jos.
Its not a whatever (fantasy) jacket its a KM tunic (those have button up collars) that has been altered.
That explains the RBNr info.

Its all explainable but the big question is : when was it converted?
Could very well be a period conversion and its named and tagged to a JG27 pilot.

The only way to find out is to see it in a photo, but I guess that these are missing, like with most jackets that come with a story ..

The repro manufacturing guys from China look at our threads...(and dealer offerings)

The attached link advertising a LW "tropical channel jacket" (no where close) is in fact based on this thread's converted
tropical KM tunic-flight jacket!!!
No doubt that's where they got the inspiration from to create this so-called channel jacket!!!
