Default My First Japanese sword

Hi all I recently purchased this sword. I believe that its a Japanese Naval Officiers sword. Not sure if its WW2 or earlier. The blade is in fantastic shape with no pitt or rust. In addition to that it has a tempeing line. y pics of the blade are bad, but I will try to take some better ones later. Also the tang is marked with Kanji on one side. On the other side it is marked by a number 3. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks
