Default 17-place Ribbon Bar

Anyone see this ribbon bar on eBay? It sold for €149.00.

I did not bid as a few things on it do not make sense to me. The precedence of awards for one thing!

What do you guys think? Did I rightly avoid or did I miss a great deal?

Best regards
Pierce

Default I agree

I agree with you. Strange precedence ? Although it looks well made ? Best that you passed.

Interesting!

The guy must have been his own division.

Hi Pierce!!
I'm no expert on ribbonbars, i saw this one too!!!
There seem to be a lot of RK winners bars coming up for sale at the moment....coincidence???? not sure!!
AS for this bar, well as i guess you know a lot of the awards are in the wrong order, if this was the real deal, then it should have belonged to some high ranking Bundeswehr general or similar? And i can't believe a guy like that would have his awards in the wrong order, especially foreign ones before German ones??
The combination of awards is unusual, many seem fine for a Para, but there is a numbered PAB, Goering Panzer Division?????
The individual bars are easy to buy from E-bay, would'nt be difficult to put your own bar together??
I dont think i'd buy this without solid provenance, could be ok, but looks "too good to be true" to me!!
See what the other guys say!!!!!!!

IMO you didn´t miss a great deal......all put together awards without any logic.

Supersoldier with RK, DK, CCC in gold, golden TDB and then the para badge AND PAB 25 ......some foreign awards.....

Awards in the false way assembled and NO traces of wear

I had it on my watch list to see how high such crap goes.

You can be sure that it would have gone up to 350€ if it would have been a good bar

The best bar that was for sale is listed here a little bit deeper

I don't like it .... RK, DKiG, CCCiG, FJ and PAB25 ??????????

As already said, you can buy all the individual ribbon bars on eBay these days ... glue some together, add a red background and bingo ... money money money.

Thank you all for your comments and confirming what I thought.

As long as these idiots keep making them like this hopefully we can easily avoid the fakes!

Best regards
Pierce

This is what I call the "super hero" status... It would raise flags that this guy was his "own division" as someone stated.

Thank you, Scott

Imagine this ribbonbar with fewer awards, or a more believable combination of awards,in the correct order, ribbons slightly dirtied to look like real wear.....
It would'nt take a lot to make a much more convincing fake!!!pirate.gif

Very true Nigel. How are we then to know what is real and what is fake.

I can spot fakes of Imperial and Third Reich ribbons bars a mile away but the 57ers do not seem to have the same strict construction rules, for example there is not much heed to stitching on a backing cloth to the reverse, most of them are glued on.
