Hi Bastian,
the binocs are a civilian spec with a centre focus. They appear to be made in the early to mid '30's .
If you want a rare civilian set of binocs this must be a good bet!
During WW2 and earlier Rathenow was a significant centre of optical production. It is located west of Berlin in the Brandenburg area. In 1939 Berlin had 2,244 optics companies and employed 27,248 workers. H.Genrich does not appear to have been a significant manufacturer, and I cannot find any info on this company.I noted that when the 3 letter manufacturers codes were adopted in 1941 - 6x manufacturers in Rathenow obtained codes and H.Genrich & Söhne does not appear amongst these companies. Perhaps by WW2 this company had been absorbed into another optics company or had ceased business .
Many thanks for your valued input! It is so common to see certain manufacturers that to come by a company such as this, even for civilian binoculars it always draws interest from me. Amazing statistics, once again thanks
