Freikorps Badge SBS

Hello - I was recently given a Freikorps badge by a German friend, along with the name of the man who joined the unit and wore the badge. The unit was "Sturmbataillon Schmidt," based in Berlin. Any idea of the badge's rarity and value? I'd like to post a photo of the badge but I can't yet. If someone will volunteer I'll send it to them to post.

I was also given a brief history of the man. He later joined the Waffen-SS unit Florian Geyer, survived the war, but died in Russian captivity in March 1946.
