Default French Indo-China Medal Bar

Hello,

I would like to share a 6 place French Indo-China Medal Bar that I won on French eBay about a year ago. Collecting French militaria is new to me and am not sure if this medal bar is correct, meaning would you find this combination of medals together. The medals are all sewn to a backing that appears to be made of cloth and cardboard. I also won from the same seller two badges (next post down) and was wondering if these badges would go with the with the medal bar because that is how I plan to display them. Any thoughts, comments or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Bonjour John,

First thing, your medals are correctly displayed, following the official text. I'm however surprised that the "croix de la valeur militaire" does not have a star pinned on the ribbon and a the "médaille coloniale", no Extreme Orient bar.
Do you have little hooks (3) sewn on the back of the frame?
The airborne forces beret insignia and the airborne qualification wings could fit perfectly this display. Could you tel us the marks behind these insignias. It could be useful to give a time frame.
Last but not least, Does "médaille coloniale" or "médaille d'outre mer" that the medal with the blue and white stripes sreads?
A soldier or an NCO could received these medals during the Indochina and Algeria wars.
Hope I could help
Cheers
Valery

Bonjour Valery,

Merci de la re'ponse.

Yes, the medal bar had 3 snap fasteners but I removed them so it would lay down flat.

The Badge with the parachute and wings is un marked, and badge with the wing and sword is marked Drago, Paris (see pic below)

I am sorry but I do not understand your last qustion.

au revoir,
John

John I believe valery is asking what the reverse of the blue/white stripe medal say, ie "médaille coloniale" or "médaille d'outre mer"

Ooops, I'm sorry I wrote too fast! John is right, I would like to know what is on the reverse of the medal with blue and white stripes ribbon?

However, I can say that your qualification badge is far from the Indochina or Algeria and dates from the 80's.
The beret insignia, from the well known french insignias maker Drago, could be dated from 1956 till 1960 according to the factory location 3-5 rue de Romainville.
Cheers
Valery

Gents,

Per your request, here is a pic of the reverse side of the medaille coloniale.
