Hi, Elwyn

Are you sure ? I believe it was the österr. Kärntnerkreuz "für Tapferkeit".
He won the December 5, 1919.

Regards,

Jaime.

Hi,

Generalmajor Walter Krüger, commander of 1. Schützen-Brigade then 1. Panzer-Division from July 17, 1941, decorates a tank crew member for gallantry during the recent battle (June-July 1941).

Hi, again!

Oberst Ernst-Günther Baade, commander of Schützen-Regiment 115, issues instructions. Note of the font of the tank, under the turret, the Afrikakorps emblem (the famous palm-tree and swastika) and that of 15. Panzer-Division.

Left to right: Generalleutnant Karl-Wilhelm von SCHLIEBEN and Konteradmiral Walter HENNECKE as US POW (Cherbourg, June 1944).

Cheers,

Jaime

PS: Sorry, I do not remember now the name of the yankee general. Maybe... Major General Manton S. Eddy, commander of the U.S. 9th Infantry Division.

Another pics of von Schlieben. Here he decorates to Leutnant der Reserve Arthur Janhke with the RK (20.04.1944), a young veteran of the Ostfront and platoon leader from 3/ Grenadier-Regiment 919. I think the pics are taken in the Omaha Beach sector on May, 1944.

Cheers,

Jaime.
