Thanks for showing your badges. It is really nice to see your marked 30's in black. Both look great and I'd be pleased to have either one.
I'm an avid wound badge collector (by makers), with a number of Hauptmunzamt examples in all grades, but I had not seen a maker marked example in black yet, nor did I have a photo of one.
Are the black grade badges hard to come by with a maker mark, or have I just managed to "miss" them these past few years? My only examples are unmarked.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Dennis

I have only seen the one Ronny has and the oneI picked up.
They don't seem to show up often.I wonder if the marked ones
were only made of brass?Anyone got a marked one in steel?
Thanks johann

Don:
Thanks for letting me know about the rarity of these maker marked black 30s. I figured if I hadn't seen one (in which case I would have picked it up) it had to be one of the tough ones.
I appreciate your taking the time to respond, and my congratulations to both of you for scoring one of these marked 30's......I hope this thread unveils a few more examples as well.
Dennis

Hi,
Don, this one is currently on it's way to me - sorry for the poor images but they are all I have at present. Had to check 3 times that it wasn't the same as yours - the paint chipping is quite similar. I have been half-heartedly looking for one for a while to make up the set - hopefully these are not the beginning of a repro flood as I don't recall seeing any before. How long have youself and Ronny owned your examples?
Interesting to note that the "30" mark on these TOMBAK black badges is the same form as the "30" mark on the ZINC silver/gold grades.
Regards
Mike K

I agree, haven't seen too many of the Black 30 marked wound badges. I have been looking for one myself.

Hi,
My example arrived today. I can't fault it. Interesting to note the raised hinge and catch alignment marks - same style as the indented marks found on solid nickel-silver and tombak 30s.
Now to put him with all his 30 marked mates.
Regards
Mike K
