Skull button
Hello,
well I had initially written this one off as a bad fake, but after using the "search function" that is so frequently overlooked I ran across an original that was very similar. I was hoping that I could get a much appreciated opinion or two from from you fine folks.
I ran across a gentleman with a moderate sized collection, and he is letting it go pretty cheap, only problem is there are definately a few fakes in the pile, so now rather than bug everyone, I am attempting to research these items before they are snaggedup by another! There are two officer tabs that i havent began reviewing yet or even scrutinized the photos yet... but here's hoping!
Thanks for looking.
p.s. sorry, the photos are not museum quality, but they are not the worst ive seen either..

No, this is an original- only the 1940 year has been copied by the dynamic duo in Budapest...this is what the front of an original 1194/40 SHOULD look like.

I don't like what I am seeing. You are correct, in that these pictures are not museum quality.

PM sent to John before on this - indeed of only the 1940 one there are die-struck repro's , but this may still be a casting .
Though it APPEARS to be of proper 3 part ( fold-over ) construction , both front & reverse do not look as smooth as they should be , and most importantly - brass front material ..?
As far as I know , this should always be ALUMINUM ..

Thats the beauty of digital....take 3-4 pics of the same thing and you better your odds of at least one coming out decent. Usually works for me.
But like anything tech, it can be a pain in the arse just when you need it to perform..........unfortunately.
Anyway, dont want to derail your thread with camera talk...
