Kriegsmarine Soldbuch- U-boat Crew Member?
Hi All.....I found this on epier website,,,,it was touted as a U Boat Crew member Soldbuch and even came with a repro Iron Cross Second Class , as the seller said that in the Soldbuch it says he won the Iron Cross.
As you can see, his name is Gunter Palm and held the rank of Mtr.Obergetreiter.
I'm wondering iff someone can help me figure out some data on this to see if it is really a U Boat Soldbuch, did he win an Iron Cross, what vessel was he on, theatre of war. I have a few books on Solbuchs , but I am a neophyte in reading them. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Unfortunately, someone has scratched out the swastika in the eagle as seen in the above photo.

There is no one with that name on the U-Boat Crew lists, however they are not 100% correct....
Crew lists
Also, not sure with that scan but it doesn't look like the photo is overstamped i.e. the photo has been replaced and might not be the Soldbuch holder!
He does have a minesweepers badge, an EK II and the Coastal Artillery Badge.

Hi Ian....thanks for the quick reply. I went and got my Thomas Jefferson repro magnifyer(one of his many inventions that is great on these types of documents etc, )and I see no evidence of the red stamps on the opposing corners on the photo itself. The photo is glued on. You may be right, it may not be the actual "first owner" of the Soldbuch.

Do you have this Soldbuch or are these scans that you were sent?
What we need to identify the units are the Feldpost numbers, from those scans it is difficult to see what they are.
With that said, page 23-24 would hold his transfers from unit to unit.....it appears that from 23 to 32 they are missing!!!

Yes, I have the Soldbuch in hand, and yes, unfortunately pages 23-32 are indeed missing.

H'mmm.....all are bad signs......so...can you make out the field post numbers (FP Nr.) on the bottom of page 2 and against the awards on page 4?
There might be some on the clothing issue pages ...6 to 14 and on the leave pages 36? onwards.
/Ian
