The front ammo pouches with only a single line of sewing at the partition are likely repros. A few originals also had this simplified construction, but repros are all done in this style.

I bought Augustin Siaz's book on Japanese equipment. His ammo pouch examples all have the single stitch. But from reading and searching the internet, Nick Komiya may be right that most had the double stitch.
