Indeed those marks on the rim are typical of a casting mold.

But .... is very likely to be a medal made ​​in Spain replacement for lost or broken handed over to the Spanish volunteers.

This is a very good example of a Spanish made medal for Division Azul (Blue Division) vets. You can find examples of the EK, KVK, WSO and The Volunteer medal.

These are really interesting in that they are normally mounted in the Spanish style brass bar. I have seen multiplace medal bars of these and Spanish awards, they are a very specialised area of TR collecting but are very original.
