War Polizei Enlisted Tunic/Member of the SS

http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=321458

This is a link to a Police Tunic that I had put on the SS Forum some time ago.
Someone stated that the condition of the Tunic was very, very good compared to the SS Runes that were sewn below the left pocket. I had a hard time getting good shots of the runes for some reason, hence the many shots of them, trying to get dialed in.
Can I get some opinions from the members of this Forum please. What do you think? Original sewing done in the TR era or what?
I had sold the tunic and was thinking of buying it back from the person that I sold it to.
Thanx,
Tim

Tim,

Overall I would say it's very difficult to determine if runes are original to a tunic, especially from only pictures. Looks like there is a nip, is there also is bit of nap wear? Uneven wear can be a red flag, although I've own and owned tunics that are really clean maybe a nip or two but then you pull up the collar and see where the moths attacked either due to a different blend of wool or perhaps they were after the cover, I don't know. Not saying this is the case but you do have a tunic with that ribbed type of wool and the insignia in question was not made from a course wool and not the same as the tunic.

What I would look at, if in hand, would be how well the insignia is bedded to the tunic, check the stitching perhaps with black light, check to see if there is a "ghost" from prior attachment or not that wasn't covered by a possible replaced insignia, and check to see if anything else appears out of place with other insignia. From your pictures, I see a dark shadow at the bottom, are your runes looses or perhaps not stitched down well? That could be concerning but not condemning.
