Default Klein & Quenzer EK2 - Core Type?

Hi Everyone,

Can somebody please tell me whether this unmarked K&Q has the first or second type core? I've been staring at the 3 for some time but am still not sure. In fact, if somebody can give me an idiot's guide to telling the difference all the better.

Thanks for looking.

Best,
Toby.

PS Photos taken with direct flash, so not the most flattering of light.

I consider this to be their first core, but I think there are more than two.

Thank you for your reply Trevor.

And ... if you don't mind, what exactly is meant by the "overhung 3" in the context of the type 1 core?

Best,
Toby.

The topmost horizontal stroke of the "3" in 1939 extends (or "hangs over") pretty far to the left. This is a feature of this core only, in my observation.
