Default ? re: West German fatigue vest

Gents, I recall that a few years ago 'Sportsmans Guide' was selling W German Army fatigue/ utility vests that looked like their regular moleskin utility blouse without sleeves.
My question is whether anyone knows if these vests were actual military issue, or commercial fantasy wear ? I cant see why you'ld wear a fatigue vest ( with emblams ) over the same type shirt.
Any ideas ?

Original used shirts with damaged Sleves, so they got removed vor civi use. They also got added some extra pockets. There was a huge lot of used clothing sold by the Bundeswehr long time ago and that the damamged ones could be used they did this. Somewhere I have an old Catalog with other funny convertibles.

I've seen this done for BGS Sumpftarn jackets as well. Shorts are another thing that I see made from various camouflage trousers. The legs are cut off with a very crude (fast) hem.

Thanks Gents, I didn't think of that being done. I always found it interesting that European armies sold so much used but usable uniforms. I always thought it was a way of guarenteeing the uniform makers got more business by replacing clothing sooner thab might by necesarry.

That's because a lot of european Armies don't use career soldiers and so after their service the used clothing get sold to empty the storages as they don't give used stuff to the next. The BW does this only with refurbished Equipment and maybe very large sizes.
