Arrow Italian flight clasp/badge.

Hello,
I picked this up in a group recently. I have found out by searching what it is but I am wondering if these are very desirable. I have not come across any of them but then again, I have not been looking. Does anyone here collect these? I bought it because I knew it was flight related and I tend toward that stuff when not in Imperial mode. I would love to see a large collection of these.
This one has 1942 scratched in the back on the left side.

Thanks,
CRBeery

The back. I thought it was cool that there is a small pin that locks the larger pin into place. I wonder why the Germans never did this as it seems very secure.

Hello CRBeery,
this badge for "Trasporto aereo" (air transport), as you probably know, was given to pilots that completed a number of transport mission, either to italian east africa, north africa, egean sea or albanian front, and was instituted in 1942 in 3 grades, gold silver and bronze.
Yours looks like a bronze grade and for what I know is a quite common badge.
Regarding the pin, that is a very distinguishing feature of italian badges, it is the so-called "bayonet type" pin... surely is very secure though probably too expensive for mass production (in fact other pin fastening systems were used as well, more similar to the german ones).
Hope this helps

Cheers,
Matteo
