Default Cholm 1957

Hello

As i mentioned yesterday i bought two shield. The first one I should is the Lappland and this is the other one.

Just as his wartime brother these are difficult to find. My only compare I had was a picture from Krantz’s book 1958, page 110. So it was a bit a leap of faith because there are also low quality fakes from this badge.

When I received it I immediately knew I was a lucky SOB. On the obverse you can see a little bit of wear / usage and it looks like buntmetall peeping through (for example the eagles claws). The feathers behind the claws show enough detail for me to judge this one as a good one.

The reverse is done the same way as the Lappland with some kind of cardboard. The 3 broad pins go through some kind of iron / cupper loops.

Enjoy!

Stijn

PS Sorry Rüdiger. Like I already said we are fishing in the same small pool. From now on I’ll keep my eyes open for you.

Hi Stijn!! Again this looks like a nice shield!! Good detailing on it, especially on the eagle, i think that looks really good!!
Nice look to it overall, little bit of wear and patina.....very nice!!
Looks like its backed with the same material as the Lappland, must have been done by the same guy, as i dont think 57er shields came with any backing?
Great addition to your collection -Nigel

Very true Nigel. The 57er shields did not come with cloth backing.

Two nice shields you've added Stijn, albeit not official shields, they are good quality and nice EYE CANDY!

Good thing you and Rudiger live a good distance apart or I think there would be a scuffle!
